Colour or black and white?

The same subject be it in human form , animal , landscape or building. On film , canvas or in print. Everything changes by a different on take. Colour is truly amazing but sometimes plain black and white captures a whole new depth. I have seen some wonderful examples of photography of late(I have not posted some of my favourites to view for copyright purpose's) You really just need to open your eyes to the wonderful examples all around us.

But for her great courage...Born Edith Madeleine Carroll on 26Th February 1906 in West Bromwich Staffordshire England...Madeleine graduated from Birmingham University with a BA degree she went on to teach in a girls school before going into acting. She married four times. At the height of her career her sister was tragically killed in the Blitz. Madeleine moved her priorities from acting giving up her career to work in field hospitals as a red cross nurse...She donated her Paris home to more than 150 adopted orphans. Awarded the legion of honour for bravery in France and also the American medal of freedom. Madeleine passed away from cancer on the 2ND October 1987.....

It's not officially her birthday till tomorrow. 16Th January (don't panic JG, I won't put your date, even though you look no where near it!)... She is a kind and very thoughtful person, she pretends not to be, but a heart of gold lies beneath that surface. She does however nag you sometimes but it is usually with your well being in mind. If you have never heard this lady sing you really need to take a listen. Ruth married twice. Her first marriage was a loveless one and ended in divorce. Ruth fell in love with her pianist(the love of her life)...Her ex-husband controled with rage and pure jealousy shot him. Thankfully he survived and the ex was sentenced for attempted murder...Ruth passed away on September 24th 1978.....

When not dropping in at vintage shows and air displays(did I say how much I love spitfires,and tanks)...I have another love the motorcycle...In my younger days(that now seems so long ago,I feel myself aging as I say those words...I 'hung' literally speaking that is out in biker dens...Yes I know your now probably gasping for air. No, not Gingey, shes so lady like and all, well you still can be a lady with pin curls and rock those biker boots!...Well, that love will not go how ever many times I have laid those boots to rest at the back of the wardrobe they keep finding their way back to the front...Most bikers have a 'bad' reputation even more so if your part of a gang. Some refer to those as pure organised crime, but not all bikers are bad. As we all know there is good and bad in everything and all should not be tarnished with the same brush. Being a true biker is all about the thrill of the ride, a beautiful machine when which you climb upon you become as one...The rally shows, exhibitions and the ethical code of good morality.....

Even somewhat slimmer. Aid you in that sexy sway, but they also can cause blisters, bunions, bad backs and the occasional sprained ankle...Don't get me wrong I love high heels. But my definition of high is somewhat more comfortable...Some women spend hundreds of pounds on the latest sky high trend's which eventually go no further than their closet.To dear to throw away. Much to uncomfortable and impractical to make it to the bus stop! Why then oh why aren't shoe designers not seeing the potential in bringing back the shoes of bygone years ...The glamour, the style and completely wearable...Please excuse me now while I reach for my slippers.x.....

Capes...Sleeveless outer-garment which fastens about the neck...Capes have been in and never really out of fashion for centuries...And No you don't have to be The Prince of Darkness or a Super Hero to wear one. So YOU really have no excuse...I have them in faux fur,woolen and crochet...They add that little extra to any outfit...Capes are more practical than are given credit. Most won't wear them as they say 'I don't know what to do with my arms?'...My advice,the same as what you usually do with them.They speak as though the cape is constricting in some way...You need to wear it often until it feels right,believe me you will grow to love them.....

The quiet bravery of so many unsung heroes helped Britain gain its Victory in WW11...Margery Booth was one of those heroes...Born in Wigan, England in 1905...A trained Opera singer...Who led a dangerous double life...She captivated Adolf Hitler with her beauty and her voice...He would send her red roses wrapped in swastikas...She would perform her songs before him and his henchmen while all along she was smuggling the Third Reich's secrets to the British Intelligence...On one occasion she sang before Hitler moments after a British officer had hidden secret documents in her underwear...She also helped many prisoners of war send out coded messages...Her bravery has been largely unrecognized...She was arrested and brutally tortured by the Gestapo...She kept her silence throughout everything that was done to her, finally managing to escape to safety...Sadly this amazing lady who had given so much for so many passed away from cancer in 1952 she was only forty seven years of age...Gone but she shall not be forgotten.....

This lady is a favourite of mine(yes I have so many)...Her CD is played constantly on a day to day basis...The lovely Anne Shelton OBE...Born Patricia Jacqueline Sibley in London on the 10Th of November 1923...Anne was an English singer and actress...She inspired soldiers both through radio and in person touring military bases in what ever conditions during world war 2...She began singing age 13,she soon had a solo artist recording contract...Anne sang with many of the greats...She performed many times with Glenn Miller...On the fateful night that was to be Glenn's last he had asked Anne to accompany him,she had to decline as she had too many commitments in England...That was the last time they spoke Glenn's plane was lost in severe weather over the English Channel...Anne married once to Lieutenant Commander David Reid...Awarded the OBE in 1990...Anne had a heart of pure gold and would give all her time to those that needed her without a thought for her self...She passed away on the 31st July 1994.....A true lady through and through.....

I know hate is a strong word and shouldn't be loosely used but for as long as I can remember I have hated clowns...The clown, a fool to amuse the audience and make them laugh by what ever means be it magic tricks, juggling or mime...Their large footwear over sized clothes bright red nose with brightly coloured hair and painted on smile...That smile...If a clown is in my vicinity I will walk how ever far round it takes me just to bypass that smile...I can't be alone on this one...Do clowns really amuse you or make your flesh crawl?...As for the Joker I do wish they would stop calling him the clowned prince as he is far to impeccably dressed and handsome to classed as a clown.....

"Time is what keeps everything from happening at once".....I have never pictured myself as one who could be addicted to anything...Yes I suppose the love of a vintage era and choosing to look a certain way is a sort of addiction...My addictions are at least healthy not like sadly so many...We are addicted to things we don't even notice, until it is pointed out to us..As today...I LOVE, yes love clocks...No harm there I hear you say(I have very good hearing)But, I have to have a clock in every room...I need to hear that clock tick,chime...When others play music to relax.I prefer to listen to my clocks tick...Each one has it's own tick, no really it has.The quickest way to annoy me is to touch one of my clocks!...I carry a pocket watch, most days...I do not like modern watches they have no uniqueness...My clocks have to be vintage and wooden...Yes I now see this addiction...Maybe I was a clockmaker or some keeper of time in a previous life...Strangest thing of all for my love of time pieces I will not obey time...Yes they are all synchronized but I still arrive by my time..... Time waits for no man.And neither shall I.....

This next post is for the wonderful 'Fifi'...You can find her at Loris sewing room.....Patricia Louise Neal born January 20Th 1926 Kentucky...She married once and had five children...A talented actress of stage and screen...She had an affair with Gary Cooper when she was twenty one, he was forty six, the affair ended and he went back to his wife...She married writer Ronald Dahl...They lost a daughter at age seven to measles and their sons baby carriage was hit by a taxi cab causing him brain damage...While pregnant with another of her daughters she suffered a burst cerebral aneurysms...Patricia was in a coma for weeks,her daughter thankfully was born healthy and safe but Patricia had to relearn to walk and talk, Ronald helped with her rehabilitation...They divorced after his affair with a 'friend'...After every heart break Patricia showed her inner strength and came back each time stronger...Patricia passed away August 8Th 2010 aged eighty four from cancer... R.I.P...

Just of late my son has been asking for me to take him camping...Yes you did read right...Vintage me, camping...Already packed my Kirby grips! Well seeing as I have a long bloodline of travellers blood running through me...How hard can it be? I'm not scared of the outdoors( I feel more for the poor wretch that encounters me)I don't even mind spending the night with a few hundred spiders just as long as they have their own sleeping bags...Mine is MINE!...I thought about easing them into it gently as Kitten is not as keen as Binksy...Like setting up camp in the back garden!My gardens small.Surrounded by trees and looks onto a woodland...No TV, no computer games...'BLISS'...Kitten has also put her own idea to consideration...Not to Binksys liking may I add...Switch all the lights out in the house. Turn off all electrical items( I told her the fridge is not included as I don't want to wake in water-world)...Put the sleepers on the living room floor and camp there!!!So where ever we end up...My mission is to sing around the torch-fire...Tell stories (I love telling stories, you would never have guessed though!)...But most of all to enjoy each other and create memories to last our lifetimes.....

I myself am not of a superstitious nature, although some of my family are...I look for an explanation in all...there fore I have come to the conclusion after many, many years...And yes there have been many. That everyone holds their own beliefs. I would never try to make any one see things as I do...That is their choice as we should not judge others as we cannot see through their eyes or dwell in their minds...No I am not crazy, not yet...From an early age I knew I could see things others did not notice(no I am not crazy,really)...Shadows would appear were there was no form of light to explain them being possible...Yes like many children I had an imaginary friend,only difference is 34 years later they are still here...These shadows are real. I'm sorry if it alarms any of you, some say I have a gift others a curse...There have been nights when I have wished they would be quiet and just leave me alone...There is an elderly lady present in our house,I believe I have mentioned her before...But just lately.I have found that we also share our property with a small girl...No one local knows who she is only that a large family moved into the house in 1948. They didn't stay long and moved on...My belief is something happened to this little girl, and forced the family to move on...She has now made her presence known to my family as she enjoys turning on my music box at times that suit her usually around one o'clock in the morning! A friend of mine also has a shadow that has appeared around her lately...I hesitated in telling her as I thought she would look at me all raised eyebrows, but no she listened to me...Shadow people have been spoken of for many decades mainly in stories and folklore but they really do exist,they are not negative or evil even though they come in the form of a shadow...When we feel lost and alone the shadows are what makes us feel safe and protected maybe they feel this way to...Have you never felt as if you were being watched? when you know no one is there...Have you ever caught a glimpse of some thing from the corner of your eye?...Smelt the aroma of a once forgotten scent?....They observe as they are unable to make contact...They are unable to travel on so remain trapped due to many reasons...They could be family, friends or even a stranger who feels drawn to you...I don't ask you to believe me .But please don't doubt me.....

Being a parent does not come with a made out instruction manual...There really is no right way to approach it...All the advise in the world be it written or spoken can not prepare you for those years ahead...Yes there will be similarities that others have been through...BUT...No one lives your life but you...Raising a child is hard...We want so much for them...Yet by striving for that 'ideal'. We forget that they only needed to feel loved and cherished...A child will forget a present, but your presence stays forever with them...I work amongst children each day and some of the things they share are beyond saddening...I wonder if this is a civilized world we really are dwelling in...LOVE your children, yes the majority of us do...Although do THEY feel loved? Hug them MORE hugs make a child feel safe...Give them your attention...Yes I know you have a busy life be it work or other siblings...I myself am guilty of this crime,when I'm working on my book I tend to fall into my own little haven...Reading a book together even walking the dog as long as it's time spent together...Over the years I have hardened so to speak people had little way at getting through the armoured exterior...But now I know what it is like to truly love with all your heart,yes I believe even I have one for now when I see my children ill or in danger a deep unimaginable pain encases my chest...The immense feeling for their protection even at the cost of my own life to protect their's...Something that I will never regret my beautiful son and daughter. x.x. Mommy will love you both beyond time itself.....

How many times have you stood/sat in a crowded area,and yet felt so alone? At some point in our lives we WILL come across some form of depression...Low self esteem,a failure, insecure.Where to some the end is only their foreseeable way out....Loss of appetite.Unable to sleep.It destroys families.Disrupts work and schooling(yes,children suffer as well.Many turn to drink/drugs as they feel no one will take them serious.It's just a mood swing,they'll snap out of it)Stop feeling sorry for yourself,if only they could...Some wrongly see depression as a weakness a form of failure...Depression is an illness and many won't seek help.It's so easy being the bystander only looking in...But until you have been to the depths of the darkness where the light isnt shining at the end of the tunnel don't criticise or look down on those who need that outstretched hand to pull them back.....
